Hello and welcome to the official SNAP Sponsorship profile of Cam Cricket Club.
We're delighted to announce that we’ve now partnered with SNAP Sponsorship and we’re looking for sponsors who are excited about affiliating themselves with a successful grassroots Gloucestershire cricket club. We’re a community club with a long history and big ambitions.
We strive to craft a partnership with our sponsors that meets their specific objectives, whether that be community gifting, social responsibility (CSR), direct sales or brand building.
Whatever your motivation, find out more below. Thank you for visiting our profile.'
Why Sponsor Us?
In order to survive and to continually improve our facilities for the local community, the club relies on sponsorship from local businesses – and this is where we would like to work alongside you.
Increased brand awareness, raising the profile of your business in our community
Do you want to raise the profile of your business or organisation? Cam Cricket Club has a large membership of around 150 players and we’re keen to develop new relationships with businesses who can offer beneficial products and services to our local community.
Sponsoring us will raise the profile of your business and benefit you in the following ways:
- Exposure to hundreds in the local area and players and spectators from visiting teams
- Publicity in local papers
- Increased brand awareness on our website and social media accounts
- Satisfaction from giving back to the community
- You’re supporting a much-needed local amenity which brings enjoyment to many.
All revenue raised is returned to the club to improve facilities for our players and spectators who love cricket.
Engage with our many members and capitalise on our strong social media following
Cam Cricket Club is in the heart of community with links to a large audience base surrounding the club. In addition to our large membership and extensive supporter network, Cam Cricket Club understands the importance and power of the internet and social media. We therefore use our website, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to promote our club, fixtures and sponsors with a total following of nearly 2000 people.
We’re an extremely social club who pride themselves on being warm, friendly and family-orientated. We regularly host events throughout the year and we’d be happy to host a sponsored networking event if desired.
Cam Cricket Club has an array of sponsorship opportunities which can be tailored to meet your objectives. Through sponsorship, our club will promote your company in a wide variety of ways enriching the profile of your business in our community.
Remove economic barriers, increase inclusivity and help to develop cricketers of the future
Sponsorship of a grassroots sport delivers a much higher return on investment than traditional advertising. This is because sponsorship allows your business to become directly involved in activities that are highly valued by local consumers.
Cam Cricket Club believes cricket is for everyone. We’re proud of our strong bonds with the community and enjoy supporting and engaging with local initiatives.
Consumers are known to form strong positive associations with sponsors who support the development of grassroots sport and also contribute to the local area. By directly supporting us, you’ll also be contributing to our strong youth section, developing players of the future and helping to remove economic barriers — making cricket affordable, accessible and inclusive for all in the community.

History of Our Club
1870 Arthur Winterbotham formed Cam Wanderers, a team composed of his personal friends for what became referred to as Cam cricket week playing the likes of Clifton, Gloucester, Cirencester & Stroud. The Matches took place ‘upon an excellent piece of ground in front of Norman Hill House’ in Cam – the residence of Mr Winterbotham.
1879 Regular fixtures recorded under the name of Cam Cricket Club and played at Norman Hill. A full management committee was in place with Arthur as president and Herbert Winterbotham as Captain.
1885 Home fixtures played ‘on the ground of the former Tillsdown’.
1923 Land acquired from the Richard Hicks Charity by Cam Mills Ltd., who’s chairman was Herbert Winterbotham who by that time was also the President of the Cam Cricket Club. It was his intention to ‘put the land the way of the parish for sports’.
1926 Cam Recreation Ground Limited was set up that year after a public meeting with 800 shares issued and the pavilion was built at a cost of £300. Herbert Winterbotham died before completion of the new facilities. There were however some compromises – the size of the ground was kept small and square to make it ‘too small for horse racing which did not go very well with ball games and might damage the pitches’. There was also a prohibition on the sale of intoxicating liquor and matches could not be played on the ground on Sundays.
1950-1970s The club eventually started playing some away games on Sunday’s intermittently but generally in the 60s Cam players turned out for Stone on Sundays. The restriction was revoked in the 70’s to enable home games to take place.
1980 Cam Sports Club was established. Premises licence granted for alcohol.
2012 New revolutionary three lane net facility opened by England Ladies Captain Charlotte Edwards. The ECB provided 75 per cent of the funds needed for the development, while the rest has come from donations and money raised by Cam.
2018 Cam Cricket Club participate with ECB venture AllStars cricket for 5–8-year-olds.
2021 The Senior Men continue to run 3 teams on a Saturday and 1 Sunday team. Whilst the Ladies have 1 team with softball activities in the week. Youth Cricket plays a large part in the modern club and we have a proud tradition of running youth sides for girls and boys and have done so continuously since 1972. Cam Cricket Club also took part in the first year of ECB Dynamos cricket for 8–11-year-olds. Clubmark accredited Sept 2021.
2022 Cam Cricket Club installs a new electronic scoreboard. Thank you to our sponsors for your kind donations to make this possible.
Aspirations
With membership and crowd attendances rising, we have ambitious plans to continue to develop the infrastructure at the club and grow our teams.
Naturally, we want to support our sponsors and build them in to our club on a strategic level – allowing all of our partners to benefit from our ever-improving facilities, expanding audience and our community involvement.
