With the club's growth both on and off the pitch, and with us playing over 20 games under floodlights each season, our current lighting system—nearly 50 years old—is no longer sustainable. This sustainability concern includes both cost and environmental impact for our community. We are working to replace our current halide system with modern LED lights.

As a community club, we strive to keep our membership fees as affordable as possible, especially for our under-18 players. This age group is notoriously difficult to keep involved in the game due to the pressures of education, part-time work, and the general costs of playing football. Recognizing the benefits of the game, we charge our players only a nominal annual fee for all their football activities. However, with rising energy costs, hosting a home game under our current floodlights costs an average of £145—excluding match officials and other related expenses. This is not financially sustainable in the long term and would negatively impact our players, which we are determined to avoid.

Additionally, our current halide system emits a significant amount of CO2. Upgrading to LEDs will reduce these emissions by approximately 65%, though exact numbers are not available.

For the sustainability of our club, community, and environment, this project is essential.
