About us:

WHO ARE WE?

Hello! Welcome to Streatham & Marlborough Cricket Club. We’ve been welcoming new members for over 200 years and we hope you’ll be the latest addition to our thriving cricket community.

Based in a tranquil corner of East Dulwich, we have over 600 members across our ever-increasing number of men’s, women’s and junior teams.

WHAT ARE WE ALL ABOUT?

We pride ourselves on being one of the most friendly and social cricket clubs around. Whoever our members are and whatever their circumstances, they can always enjoy the great game with us.

Across our membership, 35% identify as an ethnicity other than white-British, 22% are female and 2-3% have a disability. What’s more, our fees are structured so that income is never a barrier to play. We are truly a club for all.

JUST HOW MUCH CRICKET IS THERE?

Bloomin’ loads! Our men’s section runs 8 Saturday league teams, 2 Sunday friendly teams, a mid-week T20 side and a winter indoor team.  Surrey have recently said we have the largest mens section in the county.  Our women’s section play in Sunday and midweek leagues with a 2nd XI being added for 2022, while our junior section provides year-round cricket for 310 children (including 75 girls).

HOW ARE WE DOING?

Our women are tearing it up. In 2019 they were undefeated and won promotion to Division 1, as well as winning the inaugural Surrey Slam tournament. Our 4th and 5th XIs were also both promoted that year, reflecting our strength across the board.

In 2020 Covid played havoc with our fixture schedule, but our membership was healthier than ever, with heaps of new membership enquiries.

2021 was the turn of the Junior section to enjoy success.  The Boys U9 won the Surrey Junior Championship U9 'Soft Ball Saturday North' league, Boys U11 went undefeated in winning the U11 'Sunday TIer 2 East' league and the Boys U16 were champions of the U17 'Tier 2 North-East' league, yes a year group above, that's not a typo.

This year the Ladies are adding a 2XI, girls expanding to 4 squads and we have our first two age group squads entering into Tier 1 of the Surrey Junior Championship.  Kent leagues are a new horizon for the section with 3 age group teams entered for the 1st time, increasing yet further the cricket opportunities on offer.  We plan to provide 250 matches and 25,000 hours of cricket… and that’s just for our juniors!

WHAT FACILITIES HAVE WE GOT?

Our main clubhouse is located on the bustling South Circular at Dulwich Common, close to Forest Hill, Sydenham and East Dulwich.

There, we have artificial turf practice nets and a pitch-side pavilion with a well-stocked and inexpensive bar (open during matches and some training sessions).

We also use pitches at Mayow Park, Sydenham and South Norwood Lakes.

WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?

Unfortunately, running a club our size isn’t cheap, particularly in London.

Our primary aim is to raise money to build a new pavilion because our current one is falling down. Without a new one, our club as we know it will cease to exist.

Our net facilities are also in need of renovation and our ground equipment requires regular servicing.

Importantly, we don’t pay ANY of our players. We aim for all our members to benefit equally from our facilities.

HOW CAN YOU BENEFIT?

We’ll get into the nitty gritty when we meet in person, but we hope you can see that we’re a big and vibrant club with much to offer.

Our popular social media and email updates provide an opportunity for you to connect with our membership and promote your business.

What’s more, you’ll feel a part of our close-knit community. We’ll always have a cold drink with your name on it waiting behind the bar.
