Balcombe CC

We have 3 Saturday league teams who compete in the Central region of the Sussex Cricket League. The 1st team play in Division 5, 2nd team in division 10 and the 3rd team in division 11 North. We also run a very successful friendly Sunday side as well as a friendly mid week taverners side and Sussex Slam side.

Our junior section has grown over the last 5 years and is currently growing year on year and in 2022 we will be running an U13, U12, U11, U10 and U9 team as well as participating in All Stars cricket for 4-7 year olds (we had 69 All stars signed up in 2021).

We have about 150 junior playing members and 120 adult playing members.

As a club we have been lucky enough to invest money into our pavilion and in 2018 we finished 2 extensions which over doubled the size of the pavilion. It was a project that took a lot of planning and over a 3 year period the work was completed to be able to offer the club extra changing facilities and more socialable space.

The cricket club and pavilion can have 500+ people passing through during one week, with Senior/Junior matches and practise sessions.

Club House

With our extended club house we now able to offer a great venue for parties, dinners and weddings. To hire the club house and ground out for non cricketing purposes really helps with the financial running of the club with extra bar revenue and ground hire fees.

History

Unfortunately, we do not know when the Club was originally formed. However, one of the earliest records is an amazing match against Ifield on 24th May 1869 when the scores were tied in each innings and is recorded in the “Marylebone C.C. Scores and Biographies” – Volume XlV`. As follows: - “The match being one of the few instances where the opposing teams scored the same number of runs in each innings”
