The Club Today
Rochford Hundred Rugby Club has a major thriving membership base with four separate playing sections which is formed from Mens, Ladies, Juniors and Minis. We firmly believe in nurturing home-grown talent which is why we start Rugby at Under 7’s whilst providing everyone with a clear development pathway into senior teams. The club is currently playing in Level 5 of the England Rugby piramid .
Aspirations
Rochford Hundred Rugby Club has high standards and ambitions for the future. Through sponsorship we intend to secure important revenue to help us fund existing club projects which, once completed, shall elevate our club to another level. Once this has been secured we can continue to expand our club to ensure that we can provide ample playing opportunities to every section within our local community.
History
1961 – Club first discussed between John Roden and Ernie Mills.
1962 – Inaugural meeting held at the Bull Inn, Hawkwell. Club secures clubhouse facilities and first fixtures played. 70 fixtures were arranged in club’s first season.
1965 – Mike Treasure takes captaincy and is awarded first full Essex cap. Team goes unbeaten for 18 months and is recognised as one of the highest scoring teams in the country.
1971 – Club secure its own private ground playing facilities.
1974 – Clubhouse officially opened by Dickie Jeeps.
1980 – Clubhouse facilities are expanded to include new changing rooms, gym, clubroom and kitchen. Floodlights also installed on the top pitch.
1991 – Youth section is started to provide players for 1st XV and other clubs.
1999 – Rochford Hundred Rugby Club win the Essex Senior Cup against Basildon, its first major trophy. The club has gone on to win this award a further six times since.
2017 - Men’s 1st XV win the London 2 North East league.
2018 – Men’s 1st XV promoted to London 1 North East league and win league for a second consecutive season.
2019 – Men’s 1st XV promoted to the London Premier League and win league for a third consecutive season to enter the National Leagues for the first time in our history
2020 – Major infrastructure investment in new Floodlights for the 1st team pitch, secure ground fencing and pitch surround, new changing room extension, 107 seater stand, solar panels, full bar and catering refurbishment, new heating system and pitch maintenance.
2023 - Rochford Hundred Rugby Club are now the highest placed club in Essex, competing in Level 5 of the England Rugby structure
